Why track reported blowfly strikes?
While the Blowfly Risk Forecast that is developed by NADIS shows the risk of strike for any particular area, tracking strike reports shows what is actually happening on the ground.
Blowfly strike risk can vary significantly from farm to farm, and even field to field. 94%1 of farmers say they have been caught out by blowfly strike in the past, and over the last few years cases of strike have been reported from April through to October.
Monitoring the blowfly risk forecast and reporting strikes enables farmers and the wider industry to be prepared.
